Biography

Kim provides services to adults, families, and groups. She completed her master’s degree in social work with honors and a certificate in trauma from Walden University.  Her goal is to help clients struggling to overcome adverse life experiences and/or substance misuse/abuse, helping them to regain control of their lives and develop coping skills to face future challenges.

Kim aims to support clients in overcoming life’s many challenges through a client-centered approach that supports their capability to take steps for growth, change, and self-actualization. She utilizes a trauma-informed approach to help clients who have been impacted by adverse life experiences and employs therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients identify and change negative thinking patterns that often lead to poor self-worth and undesired behaviors. Similarly, Kim uses cognitive processing therapy to help clients better understand the impact of trauma on one’s overall health and functioning. This approach also utilizes cognitive restructuring to identify and change harmful thought patterns related to the event(s).

Having been in recovery for over 5 years, Kim is also well-versed in substance abuse recovery. She employs psychoeducation and behavioral approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy to support clients and their families in understanding the disease of substance use disorders and how to cope with and address it. In recovery, Kim became passionate about helping others who struggle with substance use disorders and/or trauma to recognize that they can have a better life with proper support.

Kim believes that people behave in ways that reflect what has happened to them. With the right tools and support, Kim aims to help clients achieve a better quality of life through achieving their own potential.
